Bank job, probationary exam, feel like failing, too anxious, what to do? By Anonymous | Published on December 18, 2024

Working in a bank, I have to pass three skills tests to become a full-time employee. All three must be passed to qualify. Failing one means I will continue to receive only the basic salary. I have passed two of them. There is a makeup exam tomorrow. I have practiced for over two months, yet I still don't meet the standards for becoming a full-time employee. Out of the 20 people who came together, half have already passed the exam for full-time status. Those who haven't passed all failed the "ticket" section. It requires typing 250 specified numbers correctly in 10 minutes, and there is no way to cheat. It seems that everyone else's practice has been fine, but I seem to be the worst. I have never met the standards during the practice. I am really anxious.

Hello! I'm a heart exploration coach, and I'm here to help! I'm free and ready to fly with you, and I'm warmly and sincerely listening to your emotional story.

You're feeling the excitement and pressure of the upcoming civil service exam makeup exam tomorrow! It's a great opportunity to show what you've got.

The more you think about it, the more excited you get! You might feel less confident than the people around you, but you're also more determined than ever to prove yourself. You can't imagine what fate awaits you tomorrow because you're so eager to find out!

Let's take a look at this fearful lion together, starting with a warm hug!

?1. As you said, basically every time you take a major exam, you get very nervous and feel super stressed.

The exam requires all three skills to be up to standard, and you have already passed two of them! You're just waiting for the make-up exam for the last one tomorrow.

The pattern that causes you to be nervous is because you "care too much." You want to be promoted so badly that you no longer just get a basic salary; you want to be promoted so badly that you walk with your head held high like all the other colleagues; you want to be promoted so badly that you prove to yourself that you are just as good as they are...

These "proofs" of yourself are the result of the pressure and panic caused by your "desire to prove yourself."

Anxiety is a kind of worry and fear about what might happen in the future. But here's the good news: things don't really happen, they're just imagined in the brain!

So, how can you make yourself "not care"?

2. Rename "anxiety"!

Treat a problem as a problem, and it will become a problem. But treat it as a resource or an advantage, and it will really bring you an advantage!

Let's rename "anxiety" as "excitement"! When you take the makeup exam tomorrow, tell yourself, "I'm excited right now." Anxiety and excitement have the same feeling. When we are "excited," what we already know will naturally come flooding back!

If the lion reappears in your mind when you retake the exam tomorrow, simply ignore it! Let it shout and scream as much as it wants, and it will eventually get tired and stop.

Don't believe me? Well, just try it! I promise you, it works every time.

"You need to be strong to forge iron." The above is just to share with you how to deal with the nervousness of tomorrow's exam. The fundamental problem still lies in your own skills, but you can do it!

No matter what the result of the exam is tomorrow, you've got this! Even after being hired, you will still need to continue to hone your professional skills. I look forward to hearing good news from you!

I really hope the above is helpful to you! And I love you, and I love the world too! ??

Hello, question asker. I'm happy to answer your question. After reading your description, I understand your current state of mind.

I'm not in your field, so I can't really give you any useful advice on how to run a professional operation.

I'm going to share my personal views on anxiety and some ways to deal with it. Anxiety is also known as jade anxiety. It's made up of two parts: emotions and cognition. The main emotional manifestation is exam-always-imagining-failure-hypnotizing-myself-into-believing-im-a-terrible-person-11953.html" target="_blank">fear. Cognition is about what will happen in the future. Together, anxiety is about worrying and fearing about what will happen in the future. What you are anxious about is not the exam itself, but the consequences of failing the exam. These include continuing to receive a basic salary, colleagues or relatives and friends thinking that you are incompetent, and your leader thinking that you are not qualified for the job you are doing now. These are the concerns that make you anxious.

In life, most of us can't really control what happens in the future. It's more helpful to focus on the present and what's going on right now. It's important to prepare for the exam with all the resources you have. You can find people who are good at this and ask them for advice. You can also split this ten-minute test into two or three or four sections for group practice. For example, I'll try for two minutes and record 50. After a few successful group experiences, your self-confidence will also increase. Gradually increase the four-minute period, then play for five minutes, and gradually strengthen your skills and self-confidence. Some business skills are acquired with practice. You can deliberately strengthen some of these practices in your usual work, rather than deliberately avoiding them because of poor performance.

I'm pleased to have this appointment. 1983. The world and I love you!

I can totally understand how anxious you must be feeling right now. It's tough when you see others moving forward and you're still struggling with the last hurdle. Tomorrow is a new chance to show what you've learned after all this practice. Just focus on your technique, stay calm, and give it your best shot.

Guy Anderson Forgiveness is a way to make our hearts lighter and our lives more meaningful.

It sounds like you've put in a lot of effort over these two months. Sometimes it's not just about speed but also accuracy. Maybe tonight you could try to relax and clear your mind. A fresh and less stressed mindset might help you perform better during the makeup exam. You've got this!

Feeling behind compared to your peers can be really disheartening. But remember, each person's journey is different. The fact that you've passed two tests already shows you're capable. For the ticket section, maybe try a different approach or technique for typing the numbers. With one more day of adjustment, you might surprise yourself tomorrow.
