Can social anxiety disorder really be cured? Can I really be a good teacher? By Anonymous | Published on December 18, 2024

I'm graduating soon and facing the prospect of work. Can I really be a good teacher with social phobia? Can I really be a good teacher?

I am afraid that if I teach badly and the students' grades are poor, the school will dismiss me. Some schools have come to our school to recruit teachers, and all my roommates have been selected, but I have been eliminated. I feel very bad, not only because I have been rejected, but also because I deeply doubt my abilities. Can I really survive in society? Can someone like me really find a job? I will be rejected wherever I go for an interview, and I can feel the bored expression of the interviewer and the completely different attitude towards others. When I was in elementary school, I even followed my classmates to see how they talked, and then I realized that if I talk more, I have to talk about a lot of trivial things. Can social phobia really be cured? I didn't feel anything when I went to school, but when I came into contact with society, I found it really painful. Things that are very simple for others are extremely difficult for me, and I am tortured inside.

Good day, classmate. I am Uncle Ai, a heart exploration coach.

I must express my admiration for you. Before long, you will no longer be able to contact your classmates; instead, you will have to communicate with them through their teachers. I am genuinely pleased for you.

Uncle Ai is gratified to see you pose this question, as he has long been regarded as an exemplar of social phobia. However, he has also been recognized for his eloquence and rhetorical skill throughout his five-decade career. Uncle Ai is empathetic to your struggles and concerns regarding the perceived condition of social phobia.

Uncle Ai's analysis:

[1] "Social phobia" is not recognized as a medical condition.

It is merely Internet slang, and in fact it is more often used by people as a means of self-deprecating humor regarding their reluctance to engage in inconsequential social interactions. It is not a rigorous psychological concept, and thus the label should be discarded.

If one were to refer to the general content, it could be described as being somewhat akin to the characteristics associated with introversion and a tendency to be reserved in conversation.

One might inquire whether there are inherent issues associated with individuals who exhibit these characteristics. It is likely that there are individuals in the world who are born with a proclivity for eloquence and those who are more reserved. Some may possess a knack for charisma and popularity, while others may prefer to maintain a more solitary lifestyle.

Are there any further questions? There were no further questions.

[2] One's level of verbal communication can be modified through training.

As previously stated, it is undeniable that individuals possess distinct personalities. However, it is imperative to recognize that humans are social creatures, and all professions necessitate interactions with others. Nevertheless, with the exception of specialized roles such as insurance sales, individuals with diverse personalities can thrive in a vast array of occupations. The fundamental work requirements can be effectively addressed through straightforward training.

In addition, Uncle Ai offers the following advice: First, it is essential to refine and simplify the thoughts that are expressed in one's mind. This can be achieved by transforming complex sentences into shorter sentences, or even by expressing the desired message in a single word or a phrase. The objective is to convey the intended message in the shortest possible sentence.

Secondly, it is advisable to prepare well in advance for significant events, to commit the script to memory, and to rehearse at home with the aid of a stopwatch. Thirdly, it is beneficial to take deep abdominal breaths in order to relieve tension.

The aforementioned three techniques, when coupled with extensive training, are sufficient for lifelong application.

Furthermore, one can be oneself without having to alter one's behavior. That is to say, when one is disinclined to engage in conversation, one can simply remain silent.

However, when the situation demands it, one can speak at length.

[3] When evaluating a proficient educator, eloquence is only one of the less significant indicators.

As a teacher, you should be aware of the most important indicators of excellence in the field. While eloquence is a valuable skill, it is only one aspect of the profession. To ensure a successful future in teaching, it is essential to focus on the core competencies that define a good teacher, including a deep understanding of the nature of education, a genuine love for children, expertise in child development psychology, and a strong grasp of the subject matter.

[4] There are also interview skills.

An interview is a comprehensive undertaking, encompassing attire, hairstyle, mannerisms, expressions, observation skills, adaptability, psychological qualities, and an understanding of the current staff of the hiring organization. Verbal expression on the spot constitutes only a minor aspect of this process, which can be fully achieved through initial training. Other elements require comprehensive preparation.

If adequate preparation is undertaken, success is more likely to be achieved; conversely, failure is more probable in the absence of such preparation.

In conclusion, it is evident that the aforementioned strategies can facilitate the desired outcome.

I am Uncle Ai, a heart exploration coach, and it is my sincere hope that you will take action, discard the labels, and promptly engage in a practical endeavor to secure your position in the final sprint before graduation.

Uncle Ai is of the opinion that it is possible for an individual to become an excellent teacher through their own efforts, provided that they are committed to doing their best. There is no doubt about this.

I extend my affection to the world and to you.

Dear questioner, I'm Whale Social Worker 53 Hz.

Hug the OP.

I understand your frustration. I hug you again, question asker.

Let's not talk about whether it can be cured. I'm going to share my story with you. I'm very honest, but this has caused me problems. I've always thought I wasn't suited to being a leader, but I've often found myself in that position.

At first, I was afraid I would make the team less effective and my grades would suffer. I was afraid I would make the wrong decision and let the whole team bear the consequences. But when I became the leader again and again, I would tell myself to do my best.

Sometimes I feel that my lack of ability will limit my development in the team, but I realize that this is not only my shortcoming, but also a place where I can grow. I will still become sensitive and conscientious due to my personality, but I will also feel a temporary change in my personality.

Social phobia makes people avoid crowds and socialize. I saw a video that said, "True social phobia means being scared of your own best friend, not being social."

What's the situation of the questioner?

There will be a job for social phobias, and the questioner can find out more. Teachers need to be able to be themselves in front of strangers, and social phobias obviously can't do that. All they can think about is how to escape from the crowd.

I'm curious why the OP wants to teach. He's discovered his shortcomings, so he can also discover his strengths. He can then use his strengths to take care of himself in society.

Best wishes? (Whale Social Worker?)

Facing rejection is tough, especially when it feels like everyone around you is moving forward. But remember, each no brings you closer to a yes. Your unique qualities might not fit with every school, but there will be a place where you can thrive. Keep refining your skills and don't give up on finding the right match for you.

Hedy Jackson Growth is a process of learning to see the growth that comes from learning from others.

It's okay to feel uncertain about surviving in society. Many people experience these feelings at some point. Social phobia can be managed through therapy and practice. Building small, manageable goals for social interactions can gradually increase your comfort level. Over time, you may find that what once seemed impossible becomes more achievable.

Berenice Davis Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance.

Being rejected during interviews doesn't define your worth or potential as a teacher. Sometimes it's just a matter of finding the right fit. Work on honing your interview skills, perhaps with mock sessions, and focus on schools that align with your teaching philosophy. The right opportunity will come along, and you'll be ready for it.

Remember, feeling out of place in social situations doesn't mean you can't succeed. There are many teachers who have faced similar struggles and found ways to excel in their careers. Look into joining supportive communities or professional development groups where you can share experiences and gain insights from others who understand what you're going through.
