It's been five years, I've been working hard, but I've been passed over for awards and recognition. What should I do? By Anonymous | Published on December 18, 2024

I have always aimed for excellence. Life and work are both part of me, and sometimes work takes up most of my time! I work hard and hope to be recognized for my achievements. I work hard and feel that I still need to improve, even though it's been five years and I have made great progress. I feel that I deserve to receive this award!

But it passed me by again! My colleagues who came with me are doing very well... I cried all day!

What should I tell myself!

The first thing the questioner needs to do is accept that after working so hard, he has not been rewarded. He needs to accept that his colleagues have surpassed him and that he is upset about it.

If a colleague is doing better than you, they probably have some skills you don't. Try to learn from them.

The leader decides who gets the title of "model worker" or "advanced worker." The questioner can't decide for himself. The leader must accept the decision.

Being recognized as an outstanding employee is related to one's attitude, abilities, and relationships. No matter how good one is at work, if one can't get along with leaders and colleagues, it will cause trouble for one's career.

If you're not the best, it's pointless to try. The same goes the other way around: if you have a good relationship with your leader but your work attitude and abilities are not good, it will be difficult for your leader to find a good reason to promote you. Therefore, you need to reflect on your interpersonal relationships at work. If there are problems, correct them. If not, there's no need to correct anything.

This is just my opinion.

Hello, I'm Coach Yu, and I'm thrilled to discuss this topic with you!

Emotional perception is our amazing ability to recognize, control, and regulate our own emotions. It's also a wonderful manifestation of emotional intelligence!

In "The Plastic Me," Chen Jiejun writes: Many people are unable to deal with things or emotions because they confuse feelings, emotions, and thoughts.

Now, let's dive into the fascinating world of feelings! They are the amazing physiological and biological responses of our incredible bodies to external stimuli.

For example, when someone stabs you with a needle, you feel pain; when the north wind blows in winter, you feel cold. And guess what? Feelings not only include reactions to stimuli from the environment, but also to stimuli from within ourselves!

Now, let's dive into the fascinating world of emotions! Emotions are people's reactions to feelings.

For example, when the surrounding environment is hot, it's a great feeling to feel the palms of your hands sweating and your heart beating faster! Emotions and feelings generally respond through the peripheral nervous system of the nervous system.

Thoughts are what a person gets to understand and interpret their feelings and emotions!

The amazing thing about thoughts is that they don't originate in the peripheral nervous system. They originate in the central nervous system!

As the questioner wrote, I have been working hard for five years, and I'm so excited to see what the next five years will bring!

Next, we get to do something really cool. We get to re-analyze the situation to see if we can understand our own emotional changes. Then, we get to manage and express our emotions, which helps us understand ourselves and see ourselves more clearly.

What were my thoughts when I once again missed out on being awarded? What emotions and feelings did it bring out in me?

I have worked hard for five years and I know I could and should have been awarded! Why not me? And all my colleagues who came with me are doing well, so why not me too?

In fact, we can ask ourselves: what is it about ourselves that wants to be recognized and awarded? And what is it about ourselves that cries when we don't get it?

We can also ask ourselves if we clearly understand the specific rules for the company's merit and excellence awards, and what the gap is if we were not awarded in previous years. It would be great to see our progress in these areas reflected in recent years!

And we can ask ourselves: What is the best version of myself? What can I do at this moment?

This is why feelings, emotions, and thoughts are actually the coordination between the nervous system and the brain. When everything is working together smoothly, it brings inner peace!

We can have a conversation with our colleagues who received an award to hear about their amazing gains and growth at work, and also hear about themselves in their eyes. We can be a good listener and help us understand ourselves.

We can have a conversation with our direct supervisor, honestly express our thoughts, express our disappointment at not being awarded the merit prize, and listen to the leader's comments and suggestions about our work. Good communication can both release our pent-up emotions and help us understand the expectations of the company and our leaders.

If this matter is troubling you, don't worry! There are plenty of people who can help. Talk to a family member or friend you trust and who has always given you positive support. Or, if you feel the need, you can also find a counselor. They can help you express your emotions and relieve the heaviness and blockage in your heart.

And we also need to empower ourselves! Life is an amazing journey of continuous experience. Success or failure at any stage is not enough to define our lives. So, let's make the most of it! Take time to go for a walk in nature, hang out with family, relax, and take care of our bodies and minds. As the questioner said, life and work are both part of us, so let's make the most of it!

Federico Anderson Life is a river of opportunities, paddle your way through.

I understand how you feel, it's tough when hard work doesn't get the recognition you hoped for. Maybe this is a moment to remind yourself that growth and selfimprovement are their own rewards.

Ava Miller A forgiving heart is a heart that is full of hope and possibility.

It's heartbreaking to see your efforts not acknowledged as you expected. But remember, your value isn't defined by awards. Keep pushing forward; true success comes from within and the impact you have on others.

Euterpe Jackson The breadth of learning is as important as the depth in the pursuit of erudition.

Life can be so unfair sometimes, especially when you give it your all. Take a deep breath and know that your dedication and progress over five years speak volumes, even if the award didn't reflect that this time.

Curtis Davis We achieve inner peace when we forgive others.

I know it's incredibly disappointing, but try to find comfort in the journey you've taken and the person you've become through your hard work. Sometimes the lessons we learn along the way are more valuable than any accolade.

Lauren Thomas Forgiveness is a way to show that we have the power to choose love over hate.

Crying is okay; it's a release of all the pentup emotions. Tomorrow is a new day, and with it comes fresh opportunities. Focus on what you can control and keep striving for what you believe in.
