Adrian Paul Mitchell

Motto:A winner is a dreamer who never gives up.
Adrian Paul Mitchell founded and oversees the Global Resilience and Sustainability Network (GRSN), a collaborative effort among mental health professionals, environmental groups, and community organizations aimed at fostering policies and initiatives that bolster psychological resilience in the face of global challenges. Adrian holds qualifications in both clinical psychology and environmental management, integrating these disciplines throughout his career. He is also an alumnus of the Global Leadership for Sustainable Development Program in Copenhagen, Denmark, a certified instructor in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and a seasoned facilitator of wellness workshops. Additionally, Adrian was once a resident scholar at the prestigious Aspen Institute.
In the early stages of his career, Adrian worked as a therapist with individuals affected by natural disasters, helping them and their communities recover from trauma. Later on, he spearheaded the Urban Sustainability Project in Sydney, Australia, which focused on developing green infrastructure and sustainable urban planning to enhance city resilience against environmental threats. Throughout this period, Adrian also lectured on climate psychology and sustainable development practices at the University of New South Wales. His work revealed the profound yet often overlooked connection between environmental degradation and mental health issues, prompting him to establish the GRSN in 2018.
Thanks to his dedication and innovative approaches, in 2020 Adrian was recognized as one of the “Top 40 Visionaries in Environmental Psychology” by the International Congress of Environmental Psychologists.
Adrian has penned several books exploring the relationship between personal well-being, societal structures, and ecological preservation. His latest publication, Embracing Change: Strategies for Thriving in an Uncertain World (Greenleaf Book Group), launched in September 2024, offers practical guidance on building robust communities capable of facing future uncertainties with hope and determination.
