Albertina Martinez, M.D., Ph.D., is a distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Barcelona Medical School. As of 2024, she has taken on an advisory role after serving as the Director of Educational Programs from 2005 to 2023. Albertina has been a leading researcher in the university's Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, focusing on the intersection between anxiety disorders and chronic illness. From 2000 to 2020, she spearheaded the psychiatry residency training program, nurturing a new generation of mental health professionals.

Based in Barcelona, Spain, Albertina has not only dedicated herself to clinical research but also to making psychiatric knowledge accessible to everyone. She has penned or co-penned around 150 publications, with 98 appearing in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals. Alongside her colleague, Dr. Sofia Estevez, Albertina released a book aimed at the general audience called "Understanding Mental Health: A Guide for Everyone".
