Amelia Watson, Ph.D., a renowned expert in sustainable urban development and author of "The City of Tomorrow: Innovating Urban Spaces for Future Generations," is a professor at the University of Sydney. She serves as the director of the Center for Urban Futures and is affiliated with both the Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Planning and the Sydney Environment Institute. In 2021, Amelia was honored with the Distinguished Research Award from the Australian Institute of Architects for her pioneering work in integrating green technologies into city planning.

Dr. Watson has also edited "Urban Spaces and Human Well-being: The Legacy of Jane Jacobs" (Urban Studies Series), co-edited "The Guide to Smart Cities: From Theory to Implementation," and is currently working on an upcoming publication, "The Blueprint for Resilient Cities: Adapting to Climate Change." Her research and advocacy have significantly influenced policies and practices in urban development across Australia, making cities more livable and environmentally friendly.

In April 2024, Dr. Watson led a groundbreaking project in Melbourne that transformed a neglected waterfront area into a thriving community space, incorporating renewable energy sources and promoting public engagement in urban renewal. This initiative not only enhanced the local environment but also set a new standard for sustainable city living, inspiring similar projects around the world.
