Motto:A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Anthony Collins is diving deep into the heart of community resilience and its transformative impact on social psychology. He's currently based in Melbourne, Australia, where he has set up a series of workshops aimed at fostering these resilient traits within local communities. Anthony is looking into how positive social interventions can cultivate community strength and exploring if the underlying dynamics can be understood through the lens of social neuroscience and the boost in communal support following collective empowerment experiences.

Collins' research is driven by his fascination with solidarity—this form of unity that transcends individual interests, promoting mutual aid, cooperation, and empathy. He's delving into what sparks this kind of solidarity, how it shapes personal and collective well-being, and how it can be harnessed to enhance various dimensions of community life, encouraging psychological health and building vibrant, supportive networks.

His work draws inspiration from the likes of Jane Addams, Marshall Rosenberg, bell hooks, Jonathan Haidt, Nel Noddings, Steven Pinker, and Amartya Sen. As of December 2024, Anthony is planning a large-scale project for the coming spring, hoping to implement his findings in practical ways that can benefit the residents of Melbourne and beyond. Through his efforts, he aims to create a blueprint for other cities to follow, showcasing how a focus on community can lead to profound changes in society.
