Athena Shaw

Motto:Lazy folks take the most pains.
Athena Shaw has faced life's trials head-on, having navigated the profound loss of her brother in a tragic accident and her best friend to a sudden illness. These experiences are poignantly detailed in her heartfelt memoir, "Embrace the Echoes: From Heartache to Healing," published by Starlight Publishing in 2021. Since its release, Athena has emerged as a beacon of hope, becoming a dedicated advocate for those processing grief and a sought-after speaker and consultant on resilience.
Based in Seattle, Washington, Athena has spent over two decades as a clinical psychologist, educator, and writer. Her unique journey began with a background in visual arts, which she seamlessly integrates into her therapeutic approach. She has supported countless individuals in transforming their pain into purpose—motivating them to see beauty and meaning in their struggles. Athena delights in demonstrating how creative outlets like painting, writing, and photography can empower anyone to channel adversity into personal growth and self-discovery.
Her latest book, "Pause & Presence: A Compassionate Guide to Navigating Life's Transitions," co-authored with Dr. Emily Carter, was updated in 2023 and has become an essential resource for people dealing with change and uncertainty. The book forms the foundation of a thriving online workshop series aimed at educators, healthcare professionals, and community leaders. In her 2022 TEDx talk, "Finding Light in the Darkest Times," Athena shares a moving account that resonates deeply with audiences facing difficult times.
Currently, Athena leads Artful Narratives, a community-based initiative that uses artistic expression to help people articulate their stories and achieve meaningful goals. Alongside her partner of 25 years, environmental scientist and sustainability advocate Mark Hollander, Athena thrives in the vibrant cultural scene of Seattle, where together they continue to inspire and support others on their paths to healing and renewal.
