Beatrice Knight, a licensed mental health counselor, established and oversees the Compass Heart Wellness Center in downtown Portland. Here, she assists individuals and families in navigating life's complexities and achieving personal growth. Beatrice specializes in trauma-focused expressive arts therapy and has extensive experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques. She is also an advocate for integrating technology into therapeutic practices, leading sessions that explore virtual reality as a tool for enhancing emotional resilience.

Knight authored "Bridges of Hope: Stories of Recovery and Strength," which delves into the power of community and support systems in overcoming adversity. She conceived and directed "Roots & Wings," a documentary series highlighting the stories of immigrants and their journey toward mental wellness in America. With a background in digital media, Beatrice has been covering topics related to mental health advocacy, cultural competency, and social justice for over two decades. Her work has appeared in outlets such as The Guardian, Wired, and Psych Central.

A passionate educator, Beatrice regularly holds seminars that emphasize the importance of open dialogue in fostering mental health awareness. In her workshops, participants learn how sharing personal narratives can lead to profound self-awareness and healing.

She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark College, completed her graduate studies in Digital Media Arts at the University of Oregon, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Reed College.

In early 2024, Beatrice continues her mission to provide innovative and culturally sensitive mental health services, empowering those she serves to find their path to recovery and well-being.
