Motto:Opportunities don't happen. You create them.

Beckett Joseph Franklin, Psy.D., is a dedicated psychologist serving the community of Los Angeles and the founder of HeartMend Therapy Collective. Established in 2023, HeartMend is a vibrant hub bringing together a diverse team of 15 therapists and counselors who are passionate about uncovering and nurturing the untapped potential within every individual. Embracing an empowerment-focused philosophy, HeartMend has become renowned for addressing various mental health challenges with innovative and compassionate methods.

In his work, Beckett integrates narrative therapy, dialectical behavior techniques, and expressive arts to help children, teens, adults, and families navigate through life's transitions and challenges. He has a special interest in supporting those seeking to flourish after experiencing traumatic or disorienting events. Beckett also dedicates time to mentoring new therapists, both at HeartMend and as a guest lecturer at UCLA's Department of Psychology.

Outside of his practice, Beckett enjoys hiking the scenic trails around LA and leading interactive webinars that explore the intersection of creativity and mental health. A staunch advocate for emotional literacy, he developed a series of podcasts called "Embrace Your Story," which have been instrumental in helping listeners connect with their inner narratives. His passion for storytelling was evident even during his college years when his short story, “The Echo Within,” won a prize at the Annual Writers' Guild Competition. This piece has since been used by educators at Stanford University’s psychology department to encourage students to explore their personal stories as a path to resilience.

Before founding HeartMend, Beckett spearheaded a resilience-building program for adolescents at the LA County Mental Health Center from 2018-2022. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, and completed his post-doctoral training in trauma-focused therapies at the Pacific Institute in Santa Monica.
