Motto:If you don't build your dream, someone else will hire you to help them build theirs.

Bradford Xavier Kirkland is the Director of Community Engagement and Professional Growth at Elmwood State University. In his role, he spearheads initiatives that foster strong connections between students, faculty, staff, and community members, promoting a culture of mutual support and learning. Bradford organizes workshops and seminars aimed at enhancing professional skills and career readiness for both current students and recent graduates. He has been an influential voice in discussions about civic engagement, leadership development, and the importance of building lasting community partnerships.

Before moving to Elmwood State University in 2018, Bradford served as a community outreach coordinator in San Francisco, where he was instrumental in launching several programs designed to bridge the gap between urban communities and educational institutions. These initiatives focused on providing resources for underserved populations, including job training, mentorship opportunities, and access to higher education. Bradford completed his bachelor’s degree at Elmwood State University, and later earned his master’s in sociology and a doctorate in urban studies from Stanford University. His research delved into the impact of community involvement on personal and professional growth among young adults in metropolitan areas.

Today, on December 7, 2024, Bradford continues to advocate for policies and practices that empower individuals and strengthen communities. From his office in the heart of Elmwood City, he works tirelessly to ensure that everyone has the tools they need to succeed and thrive.
