Caroline Shaw

Caroline Shaw is an accomplished artist and researcher based in Melbourne, Australia. She earned her B.A. (2015) from Monash University and later pursued her M.A. (2018) and Ph.D. (2020) at the University of Melbourne, focusing on contemporary art and its intersection with environmental science. During her academic journey, Caroline explored the impact of climate change on coastal communities and developed innovative methods for sustainable artistic practices.
In 2022, she took part in a unique residency program in Antarctica, where she worked alongside scientists to document the effects of global warming through visual arts. Her artwork from this period has been widely exhibited, raising awareness about environmental issues.
Caroline also spent several years as a volunteer educator at the National Gallery of Victoria, inspiring young artists and fostering community engagement with modern art. Her current projects delve into how art can foster resilience in changing climates, examining the role of creativity in addressing ecological challenges.
Additionally, she investigates the connection between human behavior and environmental stewardship, exploring how personal values influence conservation efforts. Caroline's research and artistry aim to bridge the gap between scientific understanding and public perception, encouraging dialogue and action towards a more sustainable future.
