Cassandrae Fitzgerald

Motto:When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.
Cassandrae Fitzgerald, Ph.D., is a professor of Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence at Emerald Coast University in Brighton, England. Dr. Fitzgerald completed her doctorate in Cognitive Robotics at the University of Edinburgh, with a focus on machine learning algorithms and their impact on human-robot interaction. She also spent time as a Research Associate at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) delving into the intricacies of how early environmental factors shape AI's decision-making processes within complex systems.
Her scholarly pursuits are centered around the development of cognitive architectures that mimic human thought processes and problem-solving skills. Since joining Emerald Coast University, Dr. Fitzgerald has been instrumental in establishing the university’s robotics lab, which has become a hub for innovative projects where students can explore the frontiers of artificial intelligence. In addition to her academic contributions, she encourages her students to think critically about the ethical implications of AI technology.
Dr. Fitzgerald is the author of "Minds and Machines: Bridging the Gap," an accessible guide to understanding the convergence of human cognition and artificial intelligence. Her latest book, "The Future We Choose: Living in Harmony with Smart Machines," explores the possibilities and challenges of coexisting with increasingly intelligent machines in our daily lives.
It's now 2024, and under her guidance, the department is thriving, attracting scholars and enthusiasts from all over the world who wish to be part of the cutting-edge research happening at this prestigious institution by the sea.
