Cecelia Hughes

Cecelia Hughes, a globally acclaimed expert in environmental sustainability and community development, has authored more than 150 articles featured in leading international journals. She penned the books "Eco-Wise: Thriving in Harmony with Nature" (GreenLeaf Press), "Roots of Resilience: Building Sustainable Communities" (EarthWorks Publishing), and "The Urban Jungle: Blending Nature into City Life". These works have been translated into over 20 languages.
Cecelia is a Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Oregon. In 2022, she was honored with the Global Environmental Leadership Award and the Outstanding Educator of the Year by the university. A Fellow of the International Sustainability Institute, Cecelia also contributes to the advisory boards of prominent organizations like National Geographic, The Nature Conservancy, and Siemens.
Her insights have guided initiatives ranging from urban green spaces in Portland to renewable energy projects in rural Africa. Cecelia has delivered keynote speeches and conducted workshops for a wide array of institutions, including UNESCO, the European Union, Tesla, Patagonia, and the Sierra Club. Her work has been highlighted in numerous media platforms such as National Geographic, BBC World Service, and The Guardian.
