Motto:The more you value education, the more doors it will open for you.
Cecil Thompson, Ph.D., is a distinguished lecturer and Research Fellow at the Institute of Environmental Studies in Sydney, Australia. With a keen interest in climate change adaptation and renewable energy transitions, Cecil has made significant contributions to these fields.
Dr. Thompson has published over 200 articles since 2010, exploring innovative solutions for sustainable development and community resilience against environmental changes. She also authored two influential textbooks: Foundations of Renewable Energy (2023, 3rd edition) and Climate Change Adaptation Strategies (co-authored with Jane Goodall, 2021, 1st edition).
Beyond academia, Dr. Thompson has penned several engaging books that bridge science with storytelling. Her latest work, Dancing with the Sun: The Pioneers Behind Australia's Solar Revolution, released earlier this year, has been praised by critics as "a beacon of hope... weaving together personal narratives, cutting-edge science, and the dramatic race to harness solar power." Another notable book, The Great Barrier Chronicles: Chronicles of Coral and Conservation in the Tropics, takes readers on an enlightening journey through one of Earth's most precious ecosystems. Most recently, Cecil unveiled Beyond the Eucalyptus Curtain: The Legacy of Australia’s Earliest Science Museums, which delves into the rich history of scientific discovery Down Under.
On a sunny day in March 2024, while strolling through the bustling streets of Sydney, Cecil was inspired to write her next big story, capturing the essence of urban sustainability and the vibrant culture of innovation that thrives in this coastal city.
