Motto:Overcoming obstacles is the path to success.

Claribel Watson, Ph.D., has made a remarkable impact in the world of environmental science. As the lead author of the book "Eco-Warriors: Advocating for a Sustainable Planet" (Oxford University Press, 2023), she explores the crucial role that individuals can play in preserving our natural environment. In addition to this, Claribel is the founder of the Green Horizon Initiative, an organization dedicated to promoting sustainable practices in urban communities.

On a sunny morning in April 2024, Claribel stood before a crowd at the City Hall of Portland, Oregon. She was there to launch her latest project, the Urban Forest Revival Program. This initiative aims to increase the city's green space by planting thousands of trees and creating new parks. Speaking passionately about the importance of biodiversity, she emphasized the need for immediate action to combat climate change and improve air quality.

Claribel's journey to becoming a leading figure in environmental advocacy began nearly two decades ago when she joined the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Since then, she has been involved in numerous conservation projects around the globe, from protecting endangered species in the Amazon rainforest to restoring coral reefs in the Great Barrier Reef.

Her work has not only garnered her accolades but has also inspired a generation of young activists. As the co-editor of the Environmental Studies Digital Journal, Claribel continues to push boundaries, challenging the scientific community to think more broadly about sustainability and the interconnectedness of all life on Earth. Through her tireless efforts, she hopes to leave a legacy of a healthier, greener planet for future generations.
