Cole Thompson, Ph.D., earned his doctorate in Environmental Science from the joint program at Harvard University and MIT in Boston. Today, Cole is a professor of Environmental Science at Stanford University, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Over the past 15 years, he has been instrumental in shaping the curriculum for courses such as Environmental Policy, Climate Change Mitigation, Renewable Energy Systems, and Sustainable Development. He also took on roles as the Director of Student Sustainability Initiatives and the Coordinator of the Green Campus Program.

Throughout his career at Stanford, Cole has garnered several prestigious accolades, including the President's Award for Environmental Stewardship, the Stanford Student Union Faculty Impact Award, the Earth Day Champion Award, the Campus Sustainability Leadership Award, and the Global Environmental Educator Fellowship. Additionally, he was honored with lifetime membership in the Academy of Environmental Educators for his outstanding contributions to environmental education.

Cole's research focuses on climate change and renewable energy solutions, leading to the publication of many influential papers that discuss innovative approaches to sustainable living and reducing carbon footprints. He authored two books: "Bridging the Divide: Solutions for a Sustainable Future," which hit the shelves in 2018, and "Pathways to Zero: Navigating the Transition to Renewable Energy," set to release in 2024. He also co-edited "Voices from the Frontlines: Stories of Communities Combatting Climate Change."

Beyond academia, Cole is deeply involved with the Earth Restoration Society, a non-governmental organization dedicated to restoring degraded ecosystems after industrial accidents or natural disasters. He has been on the ground supporting recovery efforts following events like the California wildfires, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Currently, he is focused on helping communities adapt to the impacts of climate change, providing guidance on resilience planning and disaster preparedness.

On a personal level, Cole is married to Dr. Elena Thompson, a marine biologist, and they have a son who is passionate about wildlife conservation. The family shares their home with two rescue dogs and enjoys exploring the outdoors whenever they can. Originally from Colorado, Cole finds time to indulge in hiking and cycling, and he harbors a secret love for photography, capturing the beauty of nature through his lens.
