Declan Reed

Motto:Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Declan Reed, a dedicated researcher and Ph.D. candidate at the University of Melbourne, focuses on the intersection of technology and social behavior, exploring how digital interactions shape our daily lives. With a background that includes three master's degrees—computer science from Stanford University, sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and digital media ethics from the University of British Columbia—Declan brings a unique perspective to his work.
Having undergone training in both user experience design and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Declan integrates these skills into his role as a tech innovation consultant for startups in Silicon Valley. His research has led to several publications in prestigious journals, including an article in the Journal of Technology and Human Interaction (Reed & Patel, 2023) discussing the implications of virtual reality on mental health, and another in Social Media + Society (Reed & Thompson, 2024) examining the impact of social platforms on community building.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Declan is passionate about leveraging technology to foster positive change. He frequently speaks at international conferences and workshops, sharing insights on how to create more inclusive and empathetic online spaces. Based in San Francisco, Declan continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the realm of tech and society, always looking for new ways to bridge the gap between human needs and technological advancements.
