Eileen

Motto:The more you practice gratitude, the more you'll attract positive things into your life.
Eileen has made a name for herself as an innovative food blogger, engaging storyteller, and culinary tour guide in the bustling city of Bangkok. She's the author of three celebrated cookbooks: A Taste of Tradition (released in May 2023); The Art of Street Eats; and From Market to Table, which explores the importance of preserving traditional recipes. Over the past decade, Eileen has called Southeast Asia her home, where she founded a community kitchen that teaches local cuisine.
Before diving into the world of food, Eileen spent seven years working as a chef in New York City. Her love affair with flavors that are bold, authentic, and deeply rooted in cultural heritage has taken her on countless adventures across the region. Eileen believes that cooking is a form of storytelling because it connects us to our roots, and sharing meals can foster understanding between people from all walks of life. Changing your diet can sometimes change your perspective on life.
Her work has been featured in over 90 publications ranging from Bon Appétit and Food & Wine to local Thai magazines. Eileen writes regularly for Bangkok Post’s food section, was the food editor of Saveur magazine for eight years, and collaborates with her photographer sister, Mei Lin, on projects that blend visual arts with gastronomy. Together, they have embarked on journeys that not only highlight the diversity of Asian cuisine but also celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures behind each dish.
On a warm Sunday afternoon in December, Eileen welcomed visitors into her vibrant kitchen space in the heart of Bangkok's Chinatown. With laughter and sizzling pans filling the air, she shared stories of her travels and the inspiration behind her latest cookbook. It was a day filled with learning, tasting, and creating unforgettable memories through the universal language of food.
