Elaraja Green

Motto:The secret of getting things done is to act!
Elaraja Green, Ph.D., took the helm as the founding director at the Elmwood Center for Youth Wellness on a sunny Monday, December 1st, 2025. Nestled in the heart of San Francisco, this pioneering institution is dedicated to promoting youth mental health and well-being. With over two decades of experience, Elaraja has been deeply involved in assessing therapeutic approaches and policy reforms aimed at supporting young people facing mental health challenges.
Recognizing the importance of early intervention, Elaraja advocates for a proactive stance in addressing adolescent mental health issues. She believes that by viewing these challenges as preventable conditions, much like physical health concerns, society can better support its youth. Now, she's spearheading initiatives that focus on building resilience and prevention programs designed specifically for teens and their communities. Her work not only aims to foster healthier development but also seeks to destigmatize mental health struggles among young people.
In her role as an associate professor at the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, Elaraja integrates her research findings into educational curricula, ensuring that the next generation of mental health professionals is well-equipped to tackle these critical issues head-on. Through her leadership and vision, Elaraja is making strides towards creating a safer, more supportive environment for young individuals across the Bay Area.
