Eleanor Hill

Motto:If you can dream it, you can do it.
Eleanor Hill, Ph.D., earned her doctoral degree from the University of Oxford in 2010 and now serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at this prestigious institution. Prior to this, she held a similar role at Harvard University, where she completed her postdoctoral fellowship and worked extensively on cognitive-behavioral therapy research.
Eleanor's passion for psychology was sparked by her intrigue with human resilience, particularly how people adapt after facing adversity, trauma, or profound life changes. This interest was first ignited during her early career when she encountered individuals who had overcome significant challenges, opening her eyes to the strength of the human spirit.
Throughout her academic journey, Eleanor has been privileged to meet and learn from countless individuals who have shared their stories of overcoming hardship. One such story that deeply impacted her was that of a young woman who found hope and purpose after surviving a natural disaster, which happened while Eleanor was conducting fieldwork in Japan. These interactions fueled both her desire to understand and her dedication to promoting mental health awareness.
Driven by a commitment to explore global mental health practices, Eleanor embarked on travels that took her from the bustling streets of Tokyo to the serene landscapes of New Zealand's South Island, and even to the vibrant communities of Brazil’s urban centers. During these travels, she discovered innovative community-based interventions that emphasized healing and empowerment. A memorable highlight of these expeditions occurred in 2022, when she formed a lasting friendship with a local healer in Rio de Janeiro, whose methods profoundly influenced her approach to therapy.
Her explorations have culminated in numerous publications focusing on areas such as trauma recovery, community resilience, and cross-cultural therapeutic practices. More recently, Eleanor has delved into the effects of digital media on mental health, exploring the potential of online platforms for delivering psychological support.
Over the past 14 years, Eleanor has lectured not only at universities but also at community centers, tech startups, and international conferences like the World Health Organization Forum and the International Congress of Applied Psychology. Her work extends beyond academia; she runs a private practice in London, where she supports clients in navigating their personal growth journeys.
Eleanor is immensely grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with extraordinary individuals in her professional life. She is also blessed to share her life with her supportive partner and their two children, all of whom inspire her daily to continue her pursuit of knowledge, compassion, and service to others.
