Motto:Might makes right.

Finley Young, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Environmental Science at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. Here, he spearheads the Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CAR) research group. Besides his academic role, Finley operates as a consultant on sustainable development projects, focusing on climate change adaptation, resilience strategies, and renewable energy solutions.

Young earned his master’s degree in Environmental Management from the University of Tasmania and later pursued his doctoral studies in Environmental Science at the Australian National University in Canberra. He finalized his doctoral fellowship at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), where he worked on groundbreaking research into sustainable agricultural practices.

In his latest venture, Finley embarked on a project in early 2024 to help coastal communities in Southeast Queensland better prepare for rising sea levels. His work integrates local knowledge with advanced scientific models to forecast potential impacts and devise effective mitigation plans. Through workshops and community engagement sessions held throughout the year, Finley has been fostering a dialogue between scientists, policymakers, and residents to ensure that everyone's voice is heard in planning for the future.

Living in Brisbane has given Finley a front-row seat to the challenges posed by climate change, but it has also inspired him to find innovative solutions that can be implemented locally and have a global impact.
