She undertook her residency at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and furthered her specialization with a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at St Vincent’s Hospital. Fiona comes from a family with a strong background in medicine; her father, Dr. Alan McAllister, was a renowned neurologist, and her daughter, Emily McAllister, is now studying neuroscience and psychology at the University of Melbourne.

Through her popular podcast "Mind Matters," Fiona shares practical advice, personal stories, and groundbreaking research in the field of mental health, aiming to destigmatize discussions around mental illness and encourage open conversations about emotional well-being.
