Frederick Lewis Edwards

Motto:It's not about how bad you want it. It's about how hard you're willing to work for it.
Frederick Lewis Edwards, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Boston Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He also holds an esteemed position as a Senior Researcher at Harvard University's School of Public Health within the Department of Global Health and Population. His research delves into anxiety disorders, trauma recovery, and strategies to combat mental health discrimination.
Dr. Edwards has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in leading psychology publications. His insights have been featured widely in prominent media platforms such as The Boston Globe, USA Today, and NPR. In addition to his academic contributions, his personal essays have graced the pages of outlets like The Atlantic, Psychology Today, and Medium.
A fervent advocate for turning psychological insights into practical tools, Dr. Edwards is dedicated to demystifying mental health issues for everyone. He applies his findings directly in his therapeutic work with military personnel and their families in Boston. Having experienced firsthand the impact of trauma, he channels his personal journey into advocating for mental health awareness and breaking down barriers that prevent people from seeking help. Dr. Edwards has shared his expertise through numerous public talks, training sessions, and appearances on popular podcasts, all aimed at fostering a more open dialogue around mental health.
In the spring of 2024, Dr. Edwards embarked on a new chapter by launching a community outreach program in Cambridge, Massachusetts, designed to provide support and resources to those affected by mental health challenges. Through this initiative, he continues to make significant strides in improving mental health care accessibility and reducing stigma in his local community and beyond.
