Gabriel Hughes, Ph.D., is a distinguished Clinical Psychologist who has been contributing to the mental health field since 2010. Currently based in Melbourne, Australia, Gabriel has served as a Senior Consultant at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and holds an honorary position at Monash University's Department of Psychology. He was also a visiting scholar at Harvard Medical School in Boston and has collaborated with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto.

After graduating from the University of Sydney with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Gabriel embarked on a career dedicated to advancing mental health care. Notably, he possesses a rare combination of skills, holding not only a doctorate but also a Master’s degree in Public Health and numerous certifications in therapeutic modalities. His expertise has earned him prestigious awards such as the Australian Psychological Society’s Early Career Award and the Victorian Mental Health Awards for Excellence in Research.

In 2023, Gabriel was appointed as a Distinguished Lecturer in Mental Health Advocacy at Deakin University, where he spearheaded initiatives to improve public understanding of psychological disorders. He edited a groundbreaking book titled "The Mind Unlocked," which became an instant bestseller upon its release in early 2024. All his previous works have similarly topped the charts, resonating with readers worldwide.

Gabriel's research has appeared in over a hundred peer-reviewed articles in leading journals like The Journal of Abnormal Psychology, The Lancet Psychiatry, and The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry. Recently, he was inducted as a Fellow of both Monash University and the Australian Psychological Society. He actively supports mental health organizations such as Beyond Blue, SANE Australia, and Lifeline.

A poll conducted by The Australian newspaper among psychologists and mental health professionals identified Gabriel as one of the top ten psychologists in Australia, noted for his innovative approaches and dedication to patient care. The Guardian ranked him among the Top Thirty Global Influencers in Mental Health last year.

David Carter, Ph.D., was Gabriel’s longtime collaborator and co-host on the “Minds Matter” podcast before passing away in 2022. David contributed significantly to the field during his tenure as a consultant psychologist at the Youth Mental Health Unit in Brisbane from 2000 to 2018. Together, they produced several influential papers on adolescent mental health and therapy practices. David authored three books, including "Understanding Adolescence" and "Supporting Families Through Crisis," which were instrumental in shaping community-based mental health interventions.
