Genevieve Pearl Porter is an educator, mental health advocate, and community organizer. Over the past fifteen years, Genevieve has dedicated her career to uplifting marginalized voices and fostering inclusive environments, primarily by supporting grassroots movements, educational initiatives, local government projects, cultural institutions, and youth empowerment programs in the heart of New Orleans.

Her insightful commentary and advocacy have garnered attention from prominent media outlets such as The Guardian, NPR, The Atlantic, The Advocate, and NOLA.com. She has also been highlighted for her work in promoting social change through platforms like Vox, Salon, and Essence Magazine.

In her role as a consultant and motivational speaker, Genevieve has partnered with forward-thinking organizations committed to equity and justice, including the Southern Poverty Law Center, the National Urban League, the Louisiana Children's Museum, and the Tulane University School of Social Work.

Professionally, Genevieve’s efforts within the mental health sector have seen her take on pivotal roles at the Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets (CAHOTS) program, the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System, the Jefferson Parish Public School System’s Student Services Department, and the Resilience Lab—a community-based initiative aimed at addressing trauma and fostering resilience among residents.

Genevieve holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Loyola University New Orleans, where she was awarded the Excellence in Community Engagement Award. Additionally, she earned a Master of Social Work from Tulane University, during which she served as a Leadership and Civic Engagement Fellow. Her commitment to education and mental health has made Genevieve a respected figure in New Orleans and beyond, shaping policies that prioritize people over profit and championing causes that resonate deeply within her community.
