Griffin Hughes is an esteemed Professor of Environmental Science at the University of Melbourne in Australia. He earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Queensland, where he was recognized as a Rhodes Scholar, and later obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the University of Cambridge.
In 2024, Griffin has been acknowledged with numerous accolades for his outstanding contributions to environmental research and conservation. Among these honors are the Eureka Prize for Environmental Research, the Global Green Award for Sustainable Innovation, and the prestigious United Nations Champion of the Earth Award. With over two decades of experience, Griffin has authored more than twenty books that bridge the gap between science and everyday life, such as "The Urban Jungle: Living Sustainably in the City," "Eco-Warriors: Stories of Change and Hope," and "A Planet Reborn: Pathways to a Sustainable Future."
Griffin's monthly column "Green Horizons" in National Geographic Magazine has inspired readers worldwide for nearly ten years. Additionally, he pens insightful articles for digital platforms like EcoWatch and The Nature Conservancy Blog. His latest project involves a weekly podcast called "EarthTalk," which dives deep into pressing environmental issues and potential solutions. As the sustainability advisor for The Nature Conservancy, Griffin plays a crucial role in guiding the organization’s efforts towards global conservation.
Griffin's work extends beyond academia and writing; he is a sought-after speaker at international conferences on climate change and biodiversity. He has appeared on ABC News (Australia) as a regular contributor discussing environmental policies and their impact on future generations.
