Hannah Grace Wood

Hannah Grace Wood is a celebrated educator, environmental scientist, and artist. She is renowned for her pioneering research on sustainable education models, the ecological impact of urban development, green architecture, and community-driven conservation projects. Hannah has been honored with awards from the United Nations Environment Programme and the International Society for Sustainability Education. She is the Founder and CEO of ECOVOLVE (www.ecovolve.org), an initiative that promotes innovative environmental solutions and educational programs to children, families, and educators in Australia and New Zealand.
Hannah earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the University of Queensland and has completed post-doctoral work focusing on urban ecology, sustainability education, and conservation biology. Throughout her career, she has served as a senior advisor for organizations such as WWF and Greenpeace. At WWF, Hannah spearheaded a project that utilized big data analytics to forecast the effects of climate change on wildlife habitats, influencing conservation strategies for over 100 protected areas in 2023.
She is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Centre for Tropical Environmental and Sustainability Science at James Cook University. Hannah co-leads a study on the role of green spaces in enhancing mental health among urban youth. Today, she contributes to the editorial boards of the Journal of Environmental Education and Landscape and Urban Planning.
In a motivational speech given in 2024, Hannah shared how reconnecting with nature during her childhood sparked her passion for environmental stewardship and guided her professional journey. Hannah is also a dedicated artist, using her platform to raise awareness about environmental issues. She began painting landscapes at the age of 8 and held her first solo exhibition in Sydney at age 20. Hannah remains actively involved in both her scientific pursuits and artistic endeavors, inspiring others to embrace a sustainable lifestyle.
