Ira

Motto:Success is not about being the best. It’s about always getting better.
Ira, a renowned motivational coach with a specialty in personal development and behavioral change, has always been fascinated by the ways people find their drive to transform. But what truly sparks this change? Is it the tough love approach or understanding and empathy that pave the way? Do dramatic interventions have any real impact? Can support be mistaken for enabling if you're not aggressive enough about pushing treatment? Should you challenge someone who's struggling head-on or handle the situation with care? And how do you muster up the courage to tackle your own challenges?
Is motivation really as complex as everyone makes it out to be? Not at all!
Having spent 15 years as a transformational coach, mentor, and educator, Ira has developed a unique perspective on motivation. Inspiring change isn't nearly as difficult as it's often perceived; almost anyone can achieve it. Through her work, she assists individuals in recognizing three fundamental insights: 1) Change is a choice, and no one is ever forced into it, 2) Within each person lies an inherent desire to grow, and 3) Discovering your true motivation doesn't need to be a prolonged and enigmatic journey. In fact, Ira has devised a quick method—taking just 10 minutes—that can help unlock these motivations by focusing on the reasons behind wanting to change rather than the methods of achieving it.
Based in San Francisco, California, Ira has been affiliated with Stanford University since 2010, where she serves as a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Psychology. She also contributes to various educational platforms, offering courses on personal growth and resilience. Ira runs a private practice dedicated to empowering individuals through coaching and workshops on self-improvement and overcoming obstacles (visit www.iracoaching.com). Her academic background includes a B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from UCLA. Ira was honored with the Outstanding Educator Award from Stanford University’s Department of Psychology in 2019. She resides in the heart of San Francisco with her partner, Alex, and their rescue dog, Luna.
