Iris Chen, a dedicated researcher and educator in the field of environmental science, has been enriching the academic community at Boston University since 2019. Iris earned her Ph.D. from Yale University and has conducted groundbreaking research on sustainable urban development and climate change adaptation strategies. Prior to joining Boston University, she was a visiting scholar at Oxford University, where she collaborated on projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions in European cities.

In October 2023, Iris presented her innovative findings at the World Climate Summit in Geneva, Switzerland, advocating for policies that promote green technologies and renewable energy sources. Her work has also taken her to conferences at Harvard University, Berlin’s Technical University, and the United Nations Headquarters in New York, where she engaged with global leaders and policy makers.

As a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Iris is committed to advancing conservation efforts worldwide. She has authored more than fifty peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and two books, including "Building Resilient Cities: Strategies for Adapting to Climate Change" (2022, Green Earth Publications).

Iris has advised numerous municipalities across North America on implementing environmentally friendly practices and served as a consultant for the Boston Environmental Department. Her current research explores the intersection between social behavior and environmental sustainability, aiming to enhance public understanding and action towards preserving our planet for future generations.
