Isaac Ward

Isaac Ward, Ph.D., is a distinguished clinical psychologist and professor at the University of Cambridge in the Department of Psychology, where he holds the prestigious UK Research Chair for Mental Health Innovations. Before joining Cambridge, Isaac was an associate professor at Harvard Medical School in Boston, led the Mental Health Innovation Lab at Stanford University, and served as faculty at Yale University. He pursued his undergraduate education at Oxford University and the London School of Economics. Isaac earned his Master's and Doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from King's College London, focusing on resilience, trauma recovery, and cross-cultural mental health practices. His clinical internship was completed at the NHS Foundation Trust in London, specializing in trauma, adolescent mental health, and neurodiversity.
With over 120 publications, including book chapters and peer-reviewed articles, Isaac has become a leading voice on trauma-informed care and cultural sensitivity in therapy. He has been actively involved with various organizations, serving on the board of directors for the British Psychological Society’s Division of Clinical Psychology, the Trauma Recovery Network, and the Global Mental Health Coalition. Currently, Isaac is a member of the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) Advisory Board, the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), and the Royal Society of Medicine, where he chairs the Special Interest Group for Global Mental Health. He also acts as an associate editor for the Journal of Traumatic Stress and serves on the editorial boards of several influential scientific journals. Isaac has secured numerous grants from governmental bodies and private foundations to advance his research in psychological resilience and therapeutic interventions.
As the clinical director of the Mindfulness and Resilience Center in London, Isaac provides specialized care for individuals and families dealing with trauma, PTSD, and stress-related disorders. He oversees a team of licensed therapists and trainees, offering supervision and professional development workshops. Additionally, Isaac partners with community groups and corporate entities to foster inclusive environments and enhance mental health awareness. Through his work, Isaac aims to bridge the gap between academic research and practical applications, promoting a more compassionate and effective approach to mental healthcare.
