Jeremiah Perez

Motto:All good things must come to an end.
Jeremiah Perez, Ph.D., is a dedicated educator at the helm of the sociology department at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Jeremiah's scholarly pursuits are deeply rooted in community resilience; urban sociology; the impact of technology on social interactions; social media and youth culture; and sociological perspectives on mental health. He has recently published two influential books: Embracing Change: How Urban Communities Thrive in the Digital Age, which explores the adaptive strategies of city neighborhoods facing rapid technological shifts, and Screens and Minds: Navigating Youth Culture in the Social Media Era, delving into the complex relationship between adolescents' online activities and their psychological well-being.
In the bustling heart of Westwood Village, Jeremiah finds himself surrounded by the vibrant energy of UCLA’s campus. It was on a crisp autumn morning in November 2023 when he first introduced his groundbreaking seminar series on digital citizenship. The event drew students from across disciplines, eager to understand how they could leverage technology for positive social change. Jeremiah's passion for integrating tech-savvy approaches with traditional sociological theory has not only enriched the academic community but also inspired a new generation of socially conscious leaders ready to tackle the challenges of the modern world.
