Jonah Elijah Holmes, MD, is a renowned child and adult psychiatrist practicing in San Francisco, California. Alongside his colleague, Dr. Emily Carter, he penned the insightful book *The Unseen Blueprint: How Subconscious Patterns Influence Our Choices and Bonds*. This book explores for a broad audience how unconscious thought processes, feelings, and actions—formed early in life—impact our personal relationships, decision-making, and mental health.

- Winner of the Best New Non-Fiction category at the 2022 National Book Festival

Dr. Holmes graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency and a fellowship in adolescent psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). During his fellowship, he was honored with the UCSF Excellence in Research Award.

He holds distinguished life fellowships from both the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Holmes served as an examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, specializing in adolescent and adult cases.

Throughout his career, Dr. Holmes has provided expert testimony in legal proceedings concerning juvenile delinquency and adolescent psychological trauma. He lectured at UCSF’s Department of Psychiatry, worked as a consultant for the Veterans Affairs Administration, and contributed to policy development for mental health services within the California prison system.

Dr. Holmes engages in independent research on topics such as adolescent behavioral challenges, trauma recovery, gender identity, mental health advocacy, neurodiversity, and resilience building. He publishes scholarly articles, speaks at conferences across the globe, and contributes to textbooks on psychiatry and psychology.

Coming from a lineage of mental health professionals, Dr. Holmes spent his summers in Monterey Bay, where he was immersed in a community of psychologists, therapists, and counselors who gathered annually. His upbringing among these professionals profoundly shaped his understanding and passion for mental health.

Dr. Holmes resides in San Francisco with his partner and currently offers workshops on emotional intelligence and relationship dynamics for The Insight Collective at Dominican University of California.
