Justin Xavier Howard, Ph.D., has recently taken up a position as an associate professor in the Departments of Neuroscience and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Sydney. Alongside his teaching role, Justin serves as a lead researcher within the Centre for Addiction Medicine at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia.

Justin's work extends beyond academia; he is actively involved with the Australian National Advisory Council on Substance Misuse and sits on the board of directors for both the Institute of Drug Education and Prevention and the Australasian Professional Society on Alcohol and other Drugs. His efforts are dedicated to advancing understanding and improving policies surrounding substance use disorders in the community.

In his latest venture, Justin has launched an initiative aimed at integrating innovative therapeutic approaches into existing treatment frameworks, focusing on personalized care plans that address the unique needs of individuals struggling with addiction. This project, initiated in March 2024, has already begun to make waves in the medical community, offering hope to many who seek a path towards recovery.

Based in Sydney, Justin spends his days between the university campus and the hospital, where he not only teaches future generations of scientists and healthcare professionals but also conducts groundbreaking research that could change the face of addiction treatment across the globe.
