Kai Hughes

Motto:You can't teach an old dog new tricks.
Kai Hughes is the author of "The Path to Connection," a book that has earned acclaim and was endorsed by the Los Angeles County Mental Health Department as an essential resource for individuals affected by the devastating wildfires. As a community organizer and motivational speaker, Hughes firmly believes in the power of personal stories to bridge divides and foster connections among people. His latest work, "From Solitude to Solidarity: Crafting a Network of Support," offers an inspiring and practical approach to overcoming loneliness and building meaningful relationships.
Armed with a Master of Arts degree in Community Psychology from the University of Southern California, Hughes has been dedicated to the craft of storytelling and community building since he led his first workshop in 2010. Over the past fourteen years, he has immersed himself in various communities across California, organizing events and workshops aimed at bringing together those who feel isolated due to life's challenges, such as natural disasters, personal loss, or social marginalization. He partners with the Resilience Project in Los Angeles and shares his insights through speaking engagements and teaching sessions up and down the West Coast.
On a warm afternoon in October 2024, Kai stood before a crowd in the heart of San Francisco's Mission District, ready to share his journey and the lessons learned from years of fostering connection. The event, held in a vibrant community center, brought together locals and visitors alike, all eager to hear how they could turn their own experiences into tools for creating stronger, more resilient communities. With a passion for empowering others, Kai's message resonated deeply, encouraging attendees to reach out and embrace the support that can be found in unity.
