Motto:Compassion is the thread that weaves a more beautiful social fabric.

Karen launched GreenThumbGardeners.org to foster a vibrant community of urban gardeners. With a background in environmental science, Karen has been teaching sustainability and urban agriculture at City College for several years. When she moved to Brooklyn last spring, she found herself surrounded by concrete and yearning for green spaces. Realizing the need for more accessible gardening resources in the city, Karen combined her professional expertise with her passion for growing plants to create an online platform that brings together people who share her love for cultivating life amidst the urban jungle.

GreenThumbGardeners.org quickly became a hub for exchanging tips on rooftop gardening, container planting, and indoor hydroponics. Through workshops, webinars, and a lively forum, Karen’s initiative has not only helped novice gardeners turn their balconies into flourishing oases but also built a strong network of enthusiasts who support each other's growth. Inspired by the stories of transformation and the profound connections formed within this community, Karen edited "Roots and Shoots: Urban Gardener Tales of Transformation," a heartfelt collection that showcases the resilience and creativity of city dwellers turning their spaces green.

Recently, Karen spearheaded a project called "Seeds of Change: Growing Together for a Sustainable Future," which aims to promote sustainable practices and community involvement in urban settings. You can reach Karen at [email protected] for collaboration opportunities or simply to share your own gardening adventures.
