Katherine M. Thompson, Ph.D., is a dedicated educator and current Director of the Department of Environmental Science at Greenfield University, located in the heart of Oregon's lush countryside. Known for her engaging teaching style and passion for sustainability, Katherine authored "Eco-Wise: Navigating the 7 Myths That Hinder Our Planet's Health," which challenges common misconceptions about environmental conservation.

Katherine's work delves into three key areas: environmental policy, sustainable living practices, and innovative education strategies. She has contributed to over 40 scholarly papers and book sections, delivered more than 80 talks at various conferences around the globe, and penned over 100 articles for popular media platforms. She co-authored the guide "Living Lightly on the Earth: A Manual for Sustainable Living" and is currently revising an educational textbook, "Empowering the Future: Teaching Methods in Environmental Science," now heading into its third edition. Additionally, she's collaborating on a new project with National Geographic, exploring how everyday choices impact our world.

Katherine's insights on environmental issues have graced numerous media outlets such as National Geographic, The Guardian, BBC World Service, Mother Earth News, Organic Life, Outside Magazine, and EcoWatch. Her writing can also be found in publications like Wired, Salon, Grist, The Huffington Post, and The Ecologist.

Her commitment to education and the environment has earned Katherine several accolades, including the Rising Star Award from the Oregon Environmental Council and membership in the Society for Conservation Biology. Katherine was honored with Greenfield University’s Outstanding Educator Award and was highlighted in “The Top 250 Influencers in Global Sustainability,” a publication that celebrates leaders making a difference worldwide. In her latest venture, Katherine launched a TEDx talk titled "Sustainability Starts With Us," which has garnered over 1.5 million views online.

Through her extensive research and public engagement, Katherine continues to inspire students and communities alike to take active roles in preserving our planet for future generations.
