Motto:The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war.

Lawrence Edward Harris, Ph.D., is a distinguished professor of linguistics at the University of Melbourne, renowned for his research into the cognitive aspects of multilingualism. Recently, he was honored with the prestigious Alfred Deakin Research Medal in Australia and received a scholarship from the Endeavour Leadership Program. He has authored "The Multilingual Mind" (Cambridge University Press) and "Languages: The Key to Unlocking Human Potential" (Penguin), alongside publishing over 100 scholarly articles.

Growing up in Sydney, Lawrence was immersed in a culturally diverse environment where he mastered English and Mandarin, thanks to his family's heritage. In his twenties, while studying abroad in Japan, he picked up fluent Japanese, and later on, he learned French during a sabbatical in Paris when he was in his forties. Besides his academic pursuits, Lawrence has a passion for surfing, often hitting the waves along the Great Ocean Road, and enjoys sharing this experience with students who are interested in marine culture and sports.
