Leo Marquez, Ph.D., is a psychology professor at the University of Texas in Austin, USA. Originally immersed in the worlds of physics and visual arts, Leo spent his early years experimenting with particle accelerators and exhibiting his artwork across galleries before he turned his focus to the study of human behavior and cognition.

Leo earned his Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology in 2010 from Stanford University. Throughout his doctoral research, he was affiliated with the Center for Mind, Brain, and Computation. Post-graduation, Leo furthered his expertise as a post-doctoral researcher at Harvard University and later at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

In 2015, Leo received a prestigious Research Innovation Award from the National Science Foundation, which enabled him to establish a cutting-edge lab focused on the intersection of technology and psychological development at Duke University. After several successful years, during which he also served as an associate professor, Leo made the move to the vibrant city of Austin in 2024, where he now contributes his knowledge and passion for psychology at the University of Texas.

Here, Leo not only teaches but also engages in groundbreaking research that explores how digital environments shape our thoughts and interactions. His work has been widely recognized and has influenced policies on technology use in education and mental health support.
