Motto:The shortest answer is doing.

Lillian Mary Miller earned her B.A. in environmental science and her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, where she also served as a Teaching Fellow and Research Collaborator for several years. She is currently an Associate Professor of Sociology at Portland State University in Oregon, an Adjunct Researcher at the Oregon Health & Science University, and a Guest Lecturer at the Stanford Center for Longevity. Her work primarily explores two significant themes: how urban development impacts community dynamics and social interactions, and how technological advancements reshape societal structures and individual lives. Lillian has contributed to numerous publications covering a wide range of subjects, such as sustainable living, the influence of technology on social behavior, urban resilience, digital divide, collaborative consumption, and social media effects on mental health.

Lillian often shares her insights through articles in "The Oregonian". In addition to her academic pursuits, Lillian is an avid gardener and amateur photographer. She and her colleague, Anna Green, co-authored the book "The Hidden Network: Unseen Connections Shaping Urban Life," which was released by Penguin Random House in March 2023. The book delves into the unseen networks that significantly influence everyday urban experiences and challenges our understanding of city life.
