Motto:Don't wait for opportunities, create them.

Lucretia, Ph.D., is a professor of Environmental Sustainability at the School of Life Sciences and the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Bristol. She carries out her work under the guidance of the Institute for Climate Research (ICR) and the University’s Green Futures (GF) hub. Lucretia is celebrated as an enthusiastic explorer in this emerging interdisciplinary field that provides us with profound insights into the mechanisms behind environmental resilience.

On a crisp autumn morning in November 2023, Lucretia found herself walking through the lush greenery of the Avon Gorge, a place she had visited many times before but never felt so connected to its beauty and history. As part of her ongoing research into sustainable urban development, she was here to study the impact of local flora on air quality and biodiversity. This day, however, held a special significance—it was the launch of her latest project aimed at promoting eco-friendly living within urban environments.

Lucretia has contributed more than 150 scholarly articles focusing on environmental sustainability, ecological balance, and green technology. Her writings have reached beyond academic circles; she has penned several books for the general public, including "Every Garden Tells a Story," which explores how everyday gardening can contribute to global conservation efforts. The book was published by Green Press in the spring of 2022 and quickly became a favorite among both amateur gardeners and seasoned botanists alike.

Her most recent publication, "The Whispering Woods: A Journey Through Our Forests' Past and Future," released in the summer of 2024, delves deep into the heart of forest ecosystems and their critical role in sustaining life on Earth. It also outlines a hopeful vision for reforestation and the restoration of natural habitats. Alongside this, Lucretia co-authored a research agenda on the topic of urban greening, titled "Green Cities of Tomorrow," which appeared earlier this year and offers practical steps for integrating nature into cityscapes worldwide.
