Marguerita

Motto:Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.
Marguerita Lopez, Ph.D., is a globally acclaimed specialist in the psychology of music and its impact on human behavior. She offers workshops and advises on the therapeutic applications of music for clients ranging from healthcare institutions to tech startups and music schools. At the Institute for Arts and Health at UCLA, Dr. Lopez leads the Harmony Initiative, an innovative project exploring how immersive musical experiences can enhance mental health, creativity, and social bonds.
On a sunny Monday morning in March 2024, Marguerita found herself in the heart of Barcelona, Spain, where she was invited to speak at the International Music Therapy Conference. The vibrant city buzzed with the sounds of street performers and the chatter of excited attendees. Marguerita's presentation on the intersection of music therapy and neuroscience was met with great enthusiasm, sparking lively discussions among the audience.
In addition to her research, Marguerita is passionate about teaching. She has been a senior instructor at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, where she integrates music and psychology. She also serves as a founding faculty member at The Rhythm and Resilience Center, and as a guest lecturer at El Conservatorio Superior de Música de Cataluña in Barcelona, sharing her expertise and fostering a community of learners dedicated to the transformative power of music.
