Motto:You have to be the change you wish to see in the world.

Marvin Thompson, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in Cognitive Science at the University of Melbourne (Australia), where he leads the Perception and Cognition Lab. He explores a variety of subjects linked to visual perception and neural processing, including how our brains interpret complex visual scenes and the phenomenon of change blindness (when we fail to notice changes in our visual environment). With qualifications in both Neuroscience and Computer Science, Marvin employs a multidisciplinary strategy to uncover how our brain processes visual information and how this can be applied to artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction.

Since joining the university in early 2024, Marvin has already made significant contributions to his field, authoring over 35 peer-reviewed articles and contributing chapters to several books. His work has garnered attention from media outlets across the globe, such as The Sydney Morning Herald, ABC News, The Australian, and BBC Focus. Additionally, Marvin has been a guest on various podcasts and radio shows, sharing his insights with audiences in Australia and beyond.
