Maya Clark, Ph.D.
Dr. Maya Clark is a clinical psychologist, co-founder of the Boston Center for Resilience and Wellness, and Assistant Clinical Professor at Harvard Medical School's Department of Psychiatry. She is also an avid gardener and occasional jazz vocalist.
Dr. Clark earned her doctorate from Yale University in 2018, focusing her studies on the impact of mindfulness practices on mental health and the neuroplasticity associated with stress management. Her postdoctoral research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital delved into the role of psychotherapy in enhancing resilience among individuals suffering from chronic pain. She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed journals such as Mindfulness and the Journal of Pain Research, written articles on integrating mindfulness into daily life, and co-authored the book Embracing Chronic Pain: A Guide to Building a Fulfilling Life.
In her practice, Dr. Clark combines various therapeutic modalities, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). She offers seminars for healthcare providers on cultivating compassionate care and resilience in their professional lives. Dr. Clark is passionate about exploring how people can overcome obstacles and thrive despite challenges. Leveraging insights from cognitive-behavioral science, mindfulness, and positive psychology, she investigates how past experiences shape our current perceptions and behaviors, and how we can foster personal growth through evidence-based strategies.
Working closely with her clients, Dr. Clark encourages them to embrace vulnerability, connect more deeply with their values, and cultivate meaningful relationships. She helps individuals to not only cope with adversity but to flourish, finding joy and purpose in their lives.
