Miranda Green earned her M.A. in digital media at New York University and her Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. During her doctoral studies, she was a researcher at Berkeley’s Future Interfaces Group. Presently, Miranda is an assistant professor at UCLA and heads the Interactive Media and Virtual Reality (IMVR) Lab. As a media scholar, Miranda explores various dimensions of emerging technologies.

Her work in virtual environments focuses on leveraging VR for educational advancements and personal development, such as language learning, historical reenactments, and mental health therapy. Miranda is also fascinated by the influence of virtual characters and user avatars on real-world behavior.

In the realm of social media, Miranda's research delves into how platforms impact community building, civic engagement, and the spread of misinformation. She examines how online interactions shape public opinion and contribute to social change, particularly during significant events like elections or global movements. Her latest project investigates the role of social media in fostering international collaborations and cross-cultural understanding, aiming to bridge gaps between diverse communities worldwide.

This past summer, Miranda led a workshop in Paris, where participants from different backgrounds came together to explore innovative ways technology can promote empathy and cooperation. With her passion for bridging the digital and physical worlds, Miranda continues to inspire both her students and peers in the ever-evolving field of communication technology.
