Additionally, she co-authored Integrating Psychology into Public Health: Strategies for Effective Intervention (Oxford University Press), which came out in October 2021.
Her upcoming book, Healing Together: Rebuilding Our Communities' Mental Health from Within, will be published by Allen & Unwin in June 2024. This book explores Australia's unique challenges in mental health care and proposes innovative community-based solutions that can lead to systemic change. It delves into how we can strengthen our communities to better support individuals facing mental health struggles.
In this series of articles, Naomi will delve into the disparities between mental health services and general healthcare in Australia, highlighting how insufficient training in mental health for healthcare providers can exacerbate issues such as anxiety disorders, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We'll explore broader societal impacts, including the strain on emergency services due to the lack of accessible mental health resources, the economic burden of inadequate mental health support, and the path forward for enhancing mental health services within the community.
