Narciso Green

Motto:You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.
Narciso Green, Ph.D., is a distinguished professor at the Department of Cognitive and Social Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, USA. He began his tenure at UC Berkeley in September 2024, having previously spent over two decades as a leading researcher and educator at Stanford University (2001-2024).
As both a cognitive scientist and an expert in cultural anthropology, Narciso's work delves into the intricate patterns of human behavior and communication across different societies—from casual meetups to diplomatic negotiations; from educational settings to corporate boardrooms, and from community forums to international peace talks. His groundbreaking book, "Understanding Cultures: The Art of Communication," released by Penguin Random House in 2020, has garnered widespread acclaim, alongside his co-authored publication, "Diplomatic Discourse: Strategies for Global Peace," which hit the shelves in 2023. With a prolific portfolio that includes over 200 scholarly articles and contributions to various academic journals, Narciso has established himself as a thought leader in his field.
Beyond academia, Narciso is deeply committed to bridging the gap between scientific research and public understanding. He has delivered engaging presentations at venues such as TEDx, the Aspen Ideas Festival, Apple, and Facebook, and participated in performances at the Bay Area Science Festival and the San Francisco International Arts Festival. His insights have been highlighted on NPR’s "Science Friday," where he shared his journey and discoveries with a broad audience. During the global climate crisis, Narciso contributed to a task force advising the California State Government on behavioral strategies for sustainable living and is a member of the Global Sustainability Advisory Panel.
In recognition of his innovative work, Narciso was named a National Geographic Explorer in 2022 and received the prestigious Honorary Fellowship from the American Anthropological Association in 2024. Through his dynamic presence and profound knowledge, Narciso continues to inspire and educate people around the world, making complex concepts accessible and relevant to all.
