Nathaniel Shaw

Motto:Doubt is the key to knowledge.
Nathaniel Shaw, a dedicated licensed clinical social worker and counselor, has made his home in Seattle. Nathaniel earned his MSW from the University of Washington, where he also participates in the Mindfulness and Wellness Research Center. Prior to his social work career, Nathaniel was a middle school history teacher. He boasts an MFA in creative writing from the California Institute of the Arts and completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University.
In his writings, Nathaniel explores the connections between mental health counseling and storytelling. He is especially passionate about cognitive behavioral therapy, personal growth stories, and how narrative theory can be applied to enhance therapeutic practices. His insights are drawn from working closely with communities in Seattle's diverse neighborhoods, helping individuals weave their experiences into empowering narratives that foster resilience and understanding.
As winter sets in over the Pacific Northwest in December 2024, Nathaniel reflects on the past year’s achievements and looks forward to continuing his work, using the power of story to help others find clarity and purpose in their lives.
