Motto:Dream big and dare to fail.

Oliver Alexander Woodward embarked on his academic journey at Oxford University, a place steeped in tradition and scholarship. With a doctorate in Environmental Science, Oliver has ventured far beyond the confines of his field to explore global sustainability issues. His research primarily focuses on environmental conservation and ethics, especially as they pertain to indigenous communities and ecosystems that are under threat from modernization.

Recently, Oliver has been working on an innovative project funded by the Royal Society, documenting the evolution of environmental challenges in the Digital Age. This project incorporates his firsthand experiences with advocacy for sustainable development goals (he played a pivotal role in establishing the Indigenous Conservation Network for five years) and his historical analysis that occasionally ruffled feathers among certain industrial stakeholders. Now a Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Cambridge, Dr. Woodward has authored two influential books published by Cambridge University Press: "Eco-Warriors and the Medicalization of Nature" and "One Earth: Biodiversity and the Blueprint for Survival." In September 2024, he released his third book, "Green Thumbprint: Innovators, Advocates, and the Quest for Eco-Justice."

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Oliver also spearheaded and edited a series of guidelines for sustainable practices in urban development and a guidebook for community leaders aiming to protect their local environments (see greenpractices.org).

Dr. Woodward's work appears in leading scientific journals, policy forums, and humanities publications. He also contributes opinion pieces to major newspapers such as The Guardian, The Times, Financial Times, and The Independent. His insights have been featured in over forty broadcast segments, including appearances on BBC World News, Channel 4, Discovery Channel, TED Talks, and National Geographic Explorer. He serves as an advisor for eco-friendly initiatives and his article, "The Hidden Harmony of Urban Jungles," was selected for Penguin's Best Essays of 2023 anthology. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Woodward dedicates time to mentoring young environmental activists who seek to restore damaged natural habitats. Currently, he is deeply involved in raising awareness about a critical case involving potential illegal deforestation impacting several endangered species. Dr. Woodward resides in London with his partner of twenty years, their twelve-year-old daughter, and two rescued hedgehogs, each with its own distinct personality.
