Oliver Martinez

Oliver Martinez, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at the School of Medicine, University of California, San Diego. Oliver pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona and later earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Southern California. Following his academic achievements, he embarked on a fulfilling career that led him to complete his internship and residency programs in clinical psychology at the renowned Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, California.
Today, Oliver is celebrated not only for his dedication to teaching but also for his innovative research into cognitive-behavioral therapies. He has recently established the Cognitive Health Research Lab at UCSD, where he leads a team dedicated to advancing treatments for anxiety disorders. In addition to his academic pursuits, Oliver serves as a Board Member of the Mental Wellness Alliance, contributing significantly to the organization's mission of promoting mental health awareness and support within communities across California.
In 2023, Oliver was recognized with the Distinguished Researcher Award by the American Psychological Association for his groundbreaking work in integrating technology into therapeutic practices. His current focus involves exploring virtual reality as a tool for enhancing exposure therapy sessions, aiming to provide more effective and accessible treatment options for patients dealing with phobias and PTSD.
